FIDELITONE Announces the Retirement of Richard Purnell

WAUCONDA, IL, November 29 – FIDELITONE Vice President and former Purnell Furniture Services, Inc., co-founder and President Richard Purnell is ending his long-time career in the furniture delivery industry at the end of 2016. Purnell started his Virginia-based delivery services business as a teenager in the 1970s and grew it — along with his brother and sister — from a single delivery truck to a leading third party logistics firm, before FIDELITONE’s acquisition in late 2012.

Prior to starting his furniture delivery business, Purnell worked at his father’s popular Falls Church furniture store, Hutchison Furniture. “I’ve seen a lot of changes take place in the furniture industry over the years,” said Purnell. “When I began my business, third party delivery service was a relatively new concept. Furniture stores, which were mainly small, local establishments, had their own trucks and their own drivers. Back then, people bought local. Today, it’s a much more sophisticated business.”

While at FIDELITONE, Richard helped transition and manage strategic client relationships and provided significant insight on the industry and its’ various market segments.
