Master Source for Major Retailer's Product Repair Service Group

Customer needed organized process for shipments of over six million SKUs per year

The Problem: With over 1,100 brands in a database with over six million SKUs, a leading broadline retailer providing merchandise and related services was having trouble organizing all of the pieces shipped each year. The mega-retailer had worked with multiple vendors in the past trying to find the perfect partner to provide them with an efficient and reliable process. Its products are shipped to a variety of different places including service centers, customers' homes, customers' offices, retail locations and e-commerce warehouses as well. The company needed a new logistics plan and provider to improve and expedite their processes.

The Solution: The retail company turned to third party logistics provider Fidelitone Logistics to streamline its logistics process. Fidelitone Logistics has had a strategic partnership with the retailer, which just happens to be the largest provider of product repair services in the country, since 1975. However, in 1994, Fidelitone Logistics joined forces with the company to become a master source for the product repair service group.

Fidelitone Logistics presented the retailer with a comprehensive list of possible supply chains services. These services included database management, drop ship order management, electronic order processing, inventory management, product replacement administration, vendor drop ship order management, warehouse logistics, reverse logistics and even customized reporting to ensure complete visibility into the third party logistics provided.

Today, Fidelitone Logistics continues to help the company support over five million pieces shipped each year by acting as the main contact between the retailer and the more than 1,000 brands associated with the company. Fidelitone Logistics is the primary interface for database management, inventory forecasting, procurement, purchasing and distribution for repair parts and accessories for the brands the retail company supports.

Fidelitone Logistics supports and redistributes the various brands of repair parts, accessories and finished goods for service technicians, parts stores and commercial customers. Additionally, Fidelitone Logistics stocks more than 100,000 SKUs for the mega-retailer, which occupies approximately 225,000 square feet in its Wauconda, Illinois facility. Fidelitone Logistics also manages an additional five million manufacturer SKUs through their digital database in addition to managing and tracking the 3.2 million shipments that go out annually to support this program.
