Exceptional Distribution Services for leading Emergency Care Training Program Provider

The Problem: Two of the nation's leaders in emergency care training programs, Medic First Aid International (Medic), based in Oregon for 30 years and American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI), based in Florida and Ohio for 16 years were acquired by The Riverside Company, a private equity firm. The companies were combined to form the Health and Safety Institute (HSI). HSI needed assistance handling its 175 daily orders for more than 500 SKUs (stock-keeping units) as well as shipping needs for national and global locations.

The Solution: Health and Safety Institute partnered with leading third party logistics (3PL) provider, Fidelitone Logistics, to handle the full-time responsibility of ASHI's Ohio-based division's 75 daily orders, 200 SKUs and shipping requirements.

HSI moved Medic's distribution line from the company's headquarters in Oregon to a Fidelitone Logistics facility in Wauconda, Ill. An additional 90 orders with approximately 300 SKUs were then integrated into the designated warehouse space for the client and the entire program was managed by the 3PL. This transformation allowed the client to close its facility in Ohio, reduce staffing at its Oregon location and allowed the company to find alternative uses for its existing warehouse space at the Oregon headquarters.

24-7 EMS, a company that provides emergency training programs used for obtaining continuing education credits for emergency response professionals across the U.S., was acquired by HSI. These programs are also being integrated into the client's section of the 3PL's warehouse to streamline processes and cut further costs. Conclusion: Shipping accuracy and quality of product received by the emergency care training program provider has increased with Fidelitone Logistics as the distribution arm, resulting in less customer service calls to the company's home office. In fact, Fidelitone Logistics boasts a 99 percent cycle time of orders received and shipped within 24 hours of being electronically transmitted.

Additionally, the ability to move new companies seamlessly into the current operations and centralize the shipping process in addition to combining product brands in one order has been a major benefit to the emergency care training company.
